The scientific name of the dust sand test equipment is the sand and dust test chamber, which tests whether the product meets the IP protection level standard by simulating the free fall of dust without simulating an environment with wind speed.
Dust sand test equipment is suitable for testing the sealing performance of the product’s shell, mainly used for testing the IP5X and IP6X levels specified in the shell protection level standard. Mainly simulating the damage caused by sandstorm weather to products such as locks, automotive components, seals, and power instruments.
Working principle of dust sand test equipment:
A certain concentration of sand and dust is driven by a fan to blow over the surface of test samples at a certain flow rate. The ability of these test samples to resist the penetration effect of dust particles, the ability to resist the abrasion or blockage effect of sand and gravel, and the ability to store and operate when exposed to dry sand or dusty atmosphere is tested.
What is the purpose of sand and dust testing?
The purpose of sand and dust testing is to prevent dust from entering and affecting the normal use of the product. There are standard requirements for this test. The test should be conducted in a dust sand test equipment, and the powder circulation pump in the closed test chaber can be replaced by other methods that can suspend talc powder. Talc powder should be sieved through a metal square hole sieve, with a wire diameter of 50 µ m and a mesh size of 75 µ m. The amount of talc powder used is 2kg per cubic meter of sand and dust experimental chamber volume, and the number of uses should not exceed 20. The selection of talcum powder should also comply with various regulations on human health and safety.
The purpose of sand and dust testing is to use a pressure difference to draw air from the chamber into the dust test chamber under test, with an extraction volume of 80 times the volume of the tested shell. The extraction speed should not exceed 60 times the volume of the shell per hour, and in no case should the pressure difference exceed 2Kpa. If the extraction speed is 40 to 60 times the volume of the outer shell per hour, the test will be conducted for 2 hours.
Characteristics of dust sand test equipment:
1. Suitable for conducting dustproof tests on products at levels 1-6.
2. There is a dust replaceable device at the bottom, which can easily replace used dust.
3. There is a suction pipe inside the chamber, which can complete the vacuum pumping action on the sample (the sample needs to reserve a suction hole position)
4. Preset test time: The maximum test time is 99 hours and 59 minutes.
5. Vacuum system: equipped with a vacuum pump, vacuum gauge, air filter, flow meter, and connecting pipe.
Shell material of dust sand test equipment:
① The outer shell is made of domestic steel plate, and all inner chambers and turntables are made of SUS304 # stainless steel plate. The surface is painted, beautiful and durable, and will not rust after long-term use.
② There is a transparent observation window (made of tempered glass material) on the door, and there is a transparent observation window inside the box. LED internal testing is convenient for observing the lighting.
③ The 7-inch touch screen is the core control system+Panasonic PLC.
④ Each device base is equipped with four brake wheels for easy movement and fixation.
The dust sand test equipment has two sand and dust testing methods:
1. When the air pressure inside the chamber is lower than the surrounding atmospheric pressure, due to the thermal cycling effect, a vacuum pump should be used to maintain the pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure, and the extraction air should be connected to a hole specifically designed for the test.
2. When the air pressure inside the casing is the same as the surrounding atmospheric pressure, the tested casing is placed in the test chamber at its normal working position, but not connected to the vacuum pump. The drain hole that is opened under normal circumstances should remain open during the test, and the test duration should be 8 hours.
① Clean the sample shell and try to avoid dust entering the test chamber.
② Place the sample in the middle position inside, and if power testing is required, turn on the sample power supply.
③ Pour the screened talc powder into the inside of the box, paying attention to the dust usage rate of 2 kilograms/cubic meter, and close the box door.
④ To start the equipment, it will be necessary to set test parameters, such as power on time, vibration time, dust blowing time, etc.
⑤ After the experiment, wait for the dust to settle for 30 minutes before opening the box door and taking out the sample for inspection. Be careful not to immediately open the box door to prevent dust from directly gushing out of the box, causing environmental pollution in the laboratory.

Precautions for dust sand test equipment:
1. When there is an internal fault, immediately stop heating and provide a fault prompt to indicate that there is an internal fault;
2. After the experiment is completed, first turn off the operating switch and then turn off the main switch. When opening the door for sampling, pay attention to sand and dust flushing out;
3. The air temperature inside the dust sand test equipment should be high enough to ensure that the relative humidity inside the chamber reaches 25% or lower. Place the samples at room temperature in the test chamber in their normal use position or in accordance with relevant regulations without packaging, without electricity, and ready for use. If multiple samples are included, attention should be paid not to contact each other and not to block dust from each other;
4. Inject dust into the test chamber to maintain the specified dust concentration within the specified injection time or throughout the entire test period; After the conditional test is completed, the sample remains in the test chamber until all dust settles;
5. The sample volume should not exceed 25% of the volume of the test chamber, and the sample base should not exceed 50% of the horizontal area of the working space of the test chamber.
