II.Theory:
The handheld spectroradiometer is a spectrometer based on XRF spectroscopy technology. When the energy of X-ray is higher than the binding energy of inner layer electron of atom, a vacancy will be ejected and the atomic system will be in an unstable state. When the outer layer electron jumps into the vacancy, one photo-electron will be ejected and the photon ejected may be absorbed again and another secondary photo-electron ejected from the outer layer will occur, which is called Auger effect, or secondary photo-electron effect or non-radiative effect. The photo-electron ejected is called Auger electron. When the energy released by the outer layer electron into the inner layer vacancy is not absorbed by the atom, but released in the form of photon, X-ray fluorescence will be produced, and the energy or wavelength is characteristic, which is one-to-one corresponding to the element. According to Moseley’s law, as long as the wavelength of fluorescence X-ray is measured, the kind of the element can be known, which is the basis of qualitative analysis of fluorescence X-ray. In addition, the intensity of fluorescence X-ray has a certain relationship with the content of corresponding element, so element quantitative analysis can be carried out. The X-ray detector converts the light signal of the characteristic spectrum line of the sample element X-ray into an easily measurable electric signal to obtain the characteristic information of the measured element.

V.Operation:
1. When operating the handheld spectroradiometer, avoid long-time exposure to sunlight as this may damage the liquid crystal display, and the best environmental humidity is between 0-95%. Do not place it in an environment with liquids or corrosive solvents, which will also cause significant damage.
2. When changing the detection window, be sure to work in a dust-free environment to prevent dust from entering. Close the detector window when replacing it, and do it quickly.
3. If there is sticky material on the handheld spectroradiometer that needs to be cleaned, a small amount of alcohol should be taken with clean cloth along the edges of small holes to wipe it gently.
