This standard, “CIE S 025/E:2015 Test Method for LED Lamps, LED Luminaires and LED Modules and its supplement”, focuses on setting out measurement methods for electrical, photometric, and colorimetric parameters of LED lamps, luminaires, and modules powered by AC or DC, which may be equipped with LED control gear. It encompasses a wide range of photometric and colorimetric parameters such as total luminous flux, luminous efficacy, partial luminous flux, luminous intensity distribution, central beam intensity, luminance and luminance distribution, chromaticity coordinates, correlated color temperature, color rendering index, and spatial color non – uniformity. Requirements for test laboratories are also specified, including preparations, installation, and operating conditions.
Moreover, the standard provides regulations and recommendations regarding measurement uncertainty and the presentation of test results. This aims to ensure the reliability and accuracy of photometric and colorimetric data of LED devices, enabling performance comparison among different products. It serves as a fundamental basis for lighting system design and product performance evaluation. Additionally, there are several informative annexes covering aspects like guidance on the application of this standard, stray light shielding, practical conditions of laboratories, guidelines for calculating measurement uncertainty, and the determination of rated photometric parameters of LED luminaires.
