What Is Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing?

EMC testing is carried out in 2 main parts. The first is referred to as immunity or susceptibility testing and deals with how a device will react when exposed to electromagnetic signals. The second is referred to as emissions testing and this focuses on measuring and tracking the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) that is generated by a particular device.
Both components of EMC testing are crucial engineering and design considerations for any device. Failure to properly anticipate the electromagnetic compatibility of a device can have various negative implications, such as data loss, product failure and safety risks.

What Is Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Testing?
