How do you do a salt spray test?

Test method of salt spray test chamber
• First power on the salt spray test chamber (plug in)
• Press the red power switch, the salt spray test chamber panel from left to right, respectively: the low water level A light is on, the low salt water B light is on, and the low water level C light is on.
• Pour distilled water directly into the test chamber, wait until the water level A indicator light off, and stop adding water.
• Use plastic measuring cylinders, glass rods, distilled water and so on to prepare the solution according to the test requirements.
• Open the lid of the box marked “Reagent Inlet”, pour in the prepared solution, and stop adding the solution after the low salt water B indicator light off.
• Open the valve of the “pressure tank manual water filling point” (red knob, turn it to the vertical to open) and add distilled water, wait for the low water level C indicator to go out, stop adding water, and close the valve.
• Open the lid of the test chamber and place the V-shaped sample rack and glass rod. Put in the required test sample and close the lid.
• After closing the lid of the salt spray test chamber, pour a certain amount of distilled water into the lid groove for water sealing. (The distilled water should exceed the gap between the lid and the body)
• Power on the air compressor, connect the air outlet of the air compressor to the air inlet of the salt spray test chamber, pull up the red button on the air compressor, and open the valve switch (parallel to the air outlet, vertical to open)
• Start to set the instrument, for example: the total test time is 48 hours, the spray is 8 hours, the interval is 2 hours, the laboratory temperature is 35°C, and the pressure tank temperature is 47°C.
• The timer is set to: 0048H, and the programmed timer is set to: 02H08H.
• Press the operation switch on the panel, first press the “SET” button for the laboratory temperature, the number starts to flash, press the “up”, “down” and “previous” keys to set it to 35°C. The pressure tank is set to 47°C. (The operation method of the temperature meter is the same as that of the oven, please refer to the setting method of the oven to set)
• Press the spray switch and the timer switch to start the test.
• After the salt spray test is over, first press the defogging switch and wait for the salt mist in the chamber to be discharged outside before opening the chamber cover.
• The air compressor needs to be exhausted every week. (There is a valve at the bottom of the air compressor. Use a wrench to open it to drain the water and air. Close the valve after draining)
• The valves at both ends of the back of the equipment are drain valves, and the middle is the water inlet valve. If the salt spray test chamber is not used for a long time, please open the left and right valves to drain the liquid.

Appraisal method of samples after salt spray test:
After the salt spray test is over, carefully take out the test sample from the salt spray test chamber, rinse gently with running cold water (below 35°C) or use cleaning tools such as the beach to remove salt deposits from the surface, and then proceed immediately. 80℃ ~100℃, dry for about 30 minutes (if it is not dried, it can be clear, except for the inspector), and check the corrosion degree or other defects of the test sample in time.

It is learned from the conventional record of the test method that the following aspects need to be considered:
1. The appearance of the test sample after the test
2. Appearance after removing corrosion products
3. The part, number and state of corrosion defects (pitting, cracks, bubbles, etc.)
4. Corrosion time or the time elapsed before corrosion begins
