Salt spray test is a clear and specific regulation of salt spray test conditions, such as temperature, humidity, sodium chloride solution concentration and pH value. The purpose of salt spray test is to assess the salt spray corrosion resistance quality of products or metal materials, and the judgment of salt spray test results is the judgment of product quality. Whether its judgment results are correct and reasonable is the key to correctly measure the salt spray corrosion resistance quality of products or metals. The judgment methods of salt spray test results include rating judgment method, weighing judgment method, corrosion occurrence judgment method and corrosion data statistical analysis method.
Salt spray test rating method:
1. The rating judgment method divides the percentage of the ratio of corrosion area to total area into several levels according to a certain method, and takes a certain level as the basis for qualification judgment, which is suitable for the evaluation of flat plate samples.
2. The weighing judgment method evaluates the corrosion resistance quality of samples by calculating the weight (or weight gain) of corrosion loss through the weight change of samples before and after corrosion test. It is suitable for evaluating the corrosion resistance quality of a certain metal.
3. The method of determining the presence of corrosive substances is a qualitative method, which judges the samples based on whether the products have corrosion after the salt spray corrosion test. This method is mostly used in general product standards.
4. The statistical analysis method of corrosion data is mainly used to analyze and count corrosion conditions, rather than specifically used for the quality judgment of a specific product.
The artificial simulated salt spray environment test is to use a test equipment “salt spray test chamber” with a certain volume space, and use artificial methods to create a salt spray environment in its volume space to assess the quality of salt spray corrosion resistance of products. Compared with the natural environment, the salt concentration of chloride in the salt spray environment can be several times or dozens of times of the salt spray content in the general natural environment, which greatly improves the corrosion rate. The time to obtain the results of salt spray test on products is also greatly shortened.
The artificial salt spray test also includes:neutral salt spray test, acetate spray test, copper salt accelerated acetate spray test and alternating salt spray test.
1. Neutral salt spray test (NSS test) is an accelerated corrosion test method that appeared first and is currently the most widely used in the field. It uses 5% sodium chloride saline solution, and the pH value of the solution is adjusted to the neutral range (6 ~ 7) as the solution for spray. The test temperature is 35 ℃, and the sedimentation rate of salt spray is required to be 1 ~ 2ml/80cm ². H.
2. Acetate spray test (ASS test) is developed on the basis of neutral salt spray test. It is to add some glacial acetic acid to the 5% sodium chloride solution, so that the pH value of the solution is reduced to about 3, and the solution becomes acidic. Finally, the salt mist formed is also changed from neutral salt mist to acidic. Its corrosion rate is about 3 times faster than that of NSS test.
3. Copper salt accelerated acetate spray test (CASS test) is a rapid salt spray corrosion test developed recently abroad. The test temperature is 50 ℃, and a small amount of copper salt copper chloride is added to the salt solution to strongly induce corrosion. Its corrosion rate is about 8 times that of NSS test.
4. The alternating salt spray test is a comprehensive salt spray test, which is actually a neutral salt spray test plus a constant damp heat test. It is mainly used for cavity type complete machine products. Through the penetration of the humid environment, salt spray corrosion occurs not only on the surface of the product, but also inside the product. It is to convert the product alternately under salt fog and humid and hot environmental conditions, and finally check whether the electrical and mechanical properties of the whole product have changed.
