How to use an environmental chamber? Application & Design

Introduction
An Environmental Chamber GDJS-015B is a sealed room where environmental parameters like temperature and humidity can be adjusted. Some chambers are also known for delivering salt spray into the chamber to imitate corrosion. Depending on the sort of product to be evaluated, the sizes of these chambers may vary significantly. LISUN has an environmental test chamber, also known as a climatic chamber or constant temperature and humidity chamber is a closed space used to investigate the impact of various environmental variables on the environment.

Design of environmental chamber
The fundamental components of a humidity chamber are the apparatuses utilized to introduce heat and moisture into the environment.
• IEC60068-2-1 (GB/T2423.1) and IEC60068-2-2 (GB/T2423.2), IEC60068-2-78, IEC60598-1, GB/T2423.17, GB/T5170.2, are the applicable standards for the High and Low Temperature and Humidity Chamber, respectively.
• SUS304 steel is used to construct the constant temperature humidity test chamber. Polyurethane tough foam ultra-fine glass fibre is used for the thermal insulation layer. Heat insulated doorframe is sealed with silicone rubber strip
• A platinum PT100/MV sensor is used for the temperature readings.
• The temperature controller may be communicated to a P.C. using RS-232. It is utilized by the Korean TEMI display available in English and Chinese and the German Siemens PLC. The precision of the temperature reading is 0.1 degrees Celsius, and the humidity reading is 0.1 relative humidity.
• The independent heating system utilizes nickel-chrome electric heaters.
• The refrigeration system is a fully sealed air-cooled single-stage compressed refrigerated environmental chambers. Cooling can normally be accomplished in two ways, depending on the chamber.
• Larger (and more expensive) environmental chambers have their refrigeration systems to provide cold conditions, whereas smaller units frequently depend on supplies of liquid nitrogen (LN2) or liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) for cooling. This is because larger units can hold more liquid nitrogen or liquid carbon dioxide than smaller units can.
• The use of either material comes with a set of benefits and drawbacks. When it comes to bringing about low temperatures, LN2 is a more effective agent than CO2.

How to use an environmental test chamber
1. Maintain a temperature range of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius inside the environmental chamber.
2. The machine keeps a space of at least fifty centimetres between itself and any obstructions in its vicinity. It is to the advantage of the machine’s heat dissipation that it be done.
3. Fit the air switch with a function that protects against leakage, and ensure that its specifications are compatible with the power button on the machine.
4. The wire diameter of the switching power line must not be less than the wire diameter of the machine’s power cable, and it must be grounded. This requirement must also apply to the machine’s power cable.
5. Position the machine so that it is horizontal, and then tighten the foot cups located at the four corners of the machine. Replace the gauze that is covering the humidity sensor.
6. Secure the sample holder to the rack of the machine, and make sure that the test product does not obstruct the outlet for the circulating air on the machine.
7. The position of the height varies according to the size of the sample. It does not blow past the air outlet of the fan that is used to circulate air inside the environmental chamber.
8. During the humidity test, you will need to add water manually.
9. Before using the machine, carefully read the operating instructions that were provided.

Types of environmental Chambers
For climatic testing, a constant temperature and humidity chamber is employed. In contrast, vibration and stress chambers are widely used for mechanical testing, such as assessing the product’s performance under vibration or shock. Pressure variables or vacuum are frequently used to assess “stress.”
Telecommunications, solar or fuel cell goods and automotive components use stress and vibration chambers to meet stringent testing standards. The idea is to test the material’s limits by going beyond what is “normal.”

Applications of environmental chamber
The environmental chamber typically has a temperature range of 5 to 8 °C above room temperature up to 95 °C when humid and 160 °C when dry.
• Thermal and humidity testing of textiles, construction materials, polymers, composites, glue, metals, and electronic components
• Construction material test specimens can be kept in a safe location.
• Fungal spore incubation on plants in humid conditions
• Temperature tests in accordance with DIN EN 60068-2-1 and 2-2 in the temperature chamber
• Competence with DIN EN 60068-2-38 temperature and humidity testing in the climatic test chamber
• As required by DIN EN 60068-2-14, temperature change tests

Conclusion
Many different kinds of environmental chambers are available at LISUN. The major goal of the environmental test chamber is to study the behaviour of everyday products in extreme weather conditions. Temperature and humidity can be replicated for environmental testing with this device. For samples that need to be processed at specific temperatures or humidity levels and standards that have to meet specific environmental requirements, it might impact products or materials.

FAQs
Q: What kind of precision does the LISUN environmental chamber offer?
A: It provides accurate data, with a temperature precision of 0.1 degrees Celsius and a humidity accuracy of 0.1 per cent relative humidity R.H. respectively. The temperature controller is also capable of communicating with the P.C. by RS-232, which makes it simple to monitor and, as a result, keeps the necessary settings stable.

Q: What exactly is the point of putting samples of the environment through the Environmental Test Chamber?
A: Environmental test chamber is used to set criteria for evaluating how well a product performs under various climatic circumstances before it is released on the market. The goal of this is to determine whether or not the product can withstand the climatic condition that has been specified.
