In September 2020, the DLC released the official version of the Grow Light V2.0 standard, which will be implemented on 21st, March, 2021. Prior to this, all DLC applications for plant lights will continue to be reviewed according to the V1.2 standard requirements.

Keep the requirement of V1.2 version PPE≥1.9μmol/J unchanged
In the first draft of Grow Lamp V2.0, the DLC plans to increase the PPE photosynthetic photon efficiency value to 2.10 μmol/J. However, after collecting feedback on the draft, DLC realized that grow lights are an emerging market. For the sustainable development of the market, DLC decided to keep the PPE photosynthetic photon efficiency value requirements of the current V1.2 standard unchanged, while maintaining -5 % tolerance remains unchanged.

In addition, DLC adds 2 optional reporting parameters, 280-800nm photon flux parameter and efficiency parameter, radiation in this range is usually related to plant growth and development effects.

Revised terminology to comply with ASABE (S640)

The DLC revised some policy terms to better align with American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE) ANSI/ASABE S640 definitions.

Safety certification requirements meet UL8800

The safety certificate for plant lighting products must be issued by OSHA NRTL or SCC organization and comply with the standard ANSI/UL8800 (ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC 8800).

TM-33-18 data requested

The DLC will require PPID and SQD data information derived according to the TM-33-18 standard.

Family series application

DLC will accept applications for the Family series of grow lights, aiming to reduce testing burden and application fees. The requirements for a product as a Family are as follows:
• The same LEDs must be used;
• Must have the same structure, including electrical, optical and thermal structures;
• Can contain different drivers;
• Different mounting brackets can be included without affecting heat dissipation;
• Must contain the full and detailed model name;
• A model name can only correspond to one brand. When a product is sold under multiple brands, the model name needs to be differentiated accordingly.

Although the current domestic plant lighting is in the ascendant, plant factories have problems such as low input-output ratio and high output products, but many people are still optimistic about the development potential of plant lighting. Then the plant lighting manufacturers need to strictly control the efficiency, color parameters, PPF, PAR, TM-30 and other parameters of the lamps after the production of the lamps. • Electrical: Voltage, Current, Power, Power Factor, Displacement Factor, Harmonic
• LED optical maintenance test: Flux VS time, CCT VS time, CRI VS time, Power VS time, Power Factor VS time, Current VS time and Flux Efficiency VS time.
