An environmental chamber, also known as the climatic chamber or environmental test chamber, is an enclosed space for testing the effects of specific environmental conditions on the environment. These chambers are also known for stimulating corrosion by introducing a salt spray into the chamber.
The major function of the climatic chamber is to observe the behavior of those products that we use daily in different environmental conditions. These conditions are temperature, humidity, air pressure, light and motion. This chamber is used to check any product’s performance under these conditions.
The following are the most popular tests being conducted by the environmental chambers.
Design validation ensures that a product will function in the normal environment. It will occur during its life cycle. It is specification driven and can be done in the 3rd phase or during the production phase. The goal is to pass the test and meet the specifications without failure.
The purpose of the product validation is to ensure that the product meets the requirements, specifications and regulations for which it is intended. The product validation procedure uses simulations similar to design validation to foresee faults or gaps in the design or manufacturing stages.
ESS uses various stresses such as thermal cycling to force the latent defects in a newly manufactured or repaired product. The latent failures represent catastrophic or permanent failures. The surviving products or components are assumed to have higher reliability than a similar unscreened population.
This process stimulates the real-world stresses to predict the lifespan of a product.
It is important to test the products for reliability before releasing units into the production; ensuring that products can reliably withstand various environmental conditions will reduce costs.
Product testing can give a competitive advantage because it helps design and manufactures a more robust product ready for consumer use. The reliability testing also helps the users meet supplier requirements.
• Improve product reliability and quality
• Reduces the warranty costs
• Increases the profitability
• Competitive advantage
• Meet supplier requirements
The most common types of environmental testing include the temperature and humidity halt and hass altitude.
These are some basic definitions of the components used during the testing of chambers.
It is a movable device that measures the temperature during the environmental chamber testing.
Product temperature control maximizes the stress on the product through the chamber’s control system. It optimizes the airflow by measuring and controlling the products.
Cascade refrigeration systems consist of two compressors that allow the chamber to be minus 70 degrees Celsius.
Single-stage refrigeration consists of one compressor that typically allows the chamber to minus 40 degrees Celsius.
The chamber’s refrigeration system can be cooled in one of three ways. The chambers with 6 horsepower compressors are smaller; they can be cooled with onboard air or a water-cooled condenser. The chambers with 6 horsepower compressors or larger can be cooled with either water-cooled or remote air-cooled condensers.
The purge enables reduced moisture operation at low temperatures and dew points minus 40 degrees Celsius. It utilizes compressed air as the supply source. It is also very helpful in minimizing moisture in the chamber. Gaseous nitrogen is an alternative to the dry air purge.
Liquid Nitrogen boost enables faster pulldowns and dissipation of heat from the product.
Environmental chambers come in many shapes and sizes. They mostly fit into one of these four categories.
They are small chambers that fit on the tables or counters and are ideal for testing smaller products.
Standard chambers, also known as Regent chambers, are standalone units that are often roughly 8 feet tall and have a wide array of optional features and capabilities.
Walk-in chambers are test chambers a person can walk into that are most often used for testing large products. For example, automobiles or satellites.
Custom-built chambers are built to a customer’s unique specifications and can be any shape or size.
LISUN Group is a specialized manufacturer in the world market. So, we spend a great effort providing the products to our customers.
When our engineer develops the equipment, he uses several small PCB boards instead of a big one. Thus, we can deliver a new PCB to you rather than send back the equipment to China for preparation. This helps you save a lot of money and time because if you send back the equipment, the cost for freight and customs clearance will be a big amount.
LISUN has a standard after-sales department. All of the engineers speak in English so that they can communicate with the engineer directly. They work every Wednesday till every 20:00 China time (13:00 London time) for all European customers. Apart from that, they work every Friday till every 24:00 China time (midnight New York time) for all American customers.
All of the products offer a warranty of at least 24 months, and all of the technical questions are answered within 48 hours. Most importantly, communication is very important if you meet any problem. You will communicate with engineer VIA sales because of the language problem, which will cause some misunderstandings.
Environmental test chambers develop criteria for checking the performance of a product under multiple climatic conditions. Its purpose is to check whether the product can withstand that climatic condition.
Climate test chambers are defined as enclosed spaces used for evaluation of impact of certain environmental conditions on lighting luminaires, and household applications.
Lisun Instruments Limited was found by LISUN GROUP in 2003. LISUN quality system has been strictly certified by ISO9001:2015. As a CIE Membership, LISUN products are designed based on CIE, IEC and other international or national standards. All products passed CE certificate and authenticated by the third party lab.
Our main products are Goniophotometer, Integrating Sphere, Spectroradiometer, Surge Generator, ESD Simulator Guns, EMI Receiver, EMC Test Equipment, Electrical Safety Tester, Environmental Chamber, Temperature Chamber, Climate Chamber, Thermal Chamber, Salt Spray Test, Dust Test Chamber, Waterproof Test, RoHS Test (EDXRF), Glow Wire Test and Needle Flame Test.
