The scientific name of sand and dust test chamber is dustproof test chamber, which is implemented according to international national standard parameters such as GB4208-2017 Enclosure Protection Class (IP Code). It is applicable to the test of IP5X and IP6X specified in the enclosure protection level standard. It is required to use dry talc powder as a medium for dust, but not sand for test. Standard requirements: talc powder shall be filtered by metal square mesh sieve. The wire diameter is 50um, and the mesh size is 75um. The dosage of talc powder is 2kg/m3. The criterion is that dust cannot be completely prevented from entering, but the amount of dust entering shall not affect the normal operation of the equipment.
What is the dust level of the sand and dust test chamber?
1. IP1X – prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidentally contacting the parts inside the electrical appliance, and prevent the entry of larger size (diameter greater than 5mm) foreign objects.
2. IP2X – prevent human fingers from contacting the parts inside the appliance, and prevent the intrusion of foreign objects of medium size (diameter greater than 12.5mm).
3. IP3X – prevent tools, wires and similar small foreign objects with diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm from invading and contacting parts inside the appliance.
4. IP4X – prevent tools, wires and similar small foreign objects with diameter or thickness greater than 1 cm from invading and contacting parts inside the appliance
5. IP5X – can partially prevent dust intrusion (no harmful deposits will be generated). Although it cannot completely prevent dust intrusion, the amount of dust intrusion will not affect the normal operation of electrical appliances.

③ Grounding resistance of protective ground wire: the grounding resistance of protective ground wire is less than 4 Ω
Power switch condition:
1. The user is required to configure the leakage protection air switch with corresponding capacity for the equipment at the installation site, and the switch must be used independently for the equipment;
2. It is forbidden to use knife switch or power socket;
3. The leakage protection air switch shall not be more than 2 meters away from the equipment.
Use site requirements:
① Requirements for the use site of the sand and dust laboratory: the ground is flat and the ground bearing capacity is not less than 200kg/m2;
② The site of the sand and dust test room is well ventilated, and there is no strong vibration, strong electromagnetic field effect and corrosive substances such as flammable and explosive around;
③ Proper use and maintenance space shall be reserved around the sand and dust test room;
The sand and dust test chamber has two test methods. The first is that when the air pressure in the chamber is lower than the ambient atmospheric pressure, due to the thermal cycle effect, the vacuum pump is used to keep the air pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure, and the air extraction should be connected to the hole specially set for the test.
The second type: when the air pressure in the shell is the same as the ambient atmospheric pressure, the tested shell is placed in the test box according to the normal working position, but not connected to the vacuum pump. The drain hole that is opened under normal conditions should remain open during the test, and the test duration is 8 hours.
