This standard states the technical requirements which ensure the quality and interchangeability of aircraft electrical filament lamps. It describes the methods of test to be used and the conditions of compliance to be applied to the test results to judge whether a batch of conditions is of acceptable quality.
Rated voltage
The voltage (d.c. or a.c. r.m.s.)at which the lamp is designed to operate.
Rated current
The designed current of the lamp at its rated voltage.
Rated wattage
The wattage marked on the lamp; if no wattage value is included in the lamp marking, the rated wattage shall be the product of the rated voltage and the rated current.
Rated light output
The light output marked on the lamp or declared by the supplier. It is expressed in lumens (lm) or mean spherical candlepower (cd).
Test voltage
The voltage at which the lamp characteristics are to be tested.
Light centre length (LCL)
The distance from the geometrical centre of the filament to the position on the lamp cap shown in the relevant lamp data sheet.
Inspection test
The test for visual mechanical and physical characteristics.
